At about 6:30 p.m. on Friday, two men entered the Mini Mart and threatened the proprietor with a machete, Police said in a news release.

She resisted and fled from the store unharmed, Police said.

The men were described as Bermudian. One was in his 50s, about five feet, ten inches tall, medium brown skinned, and had a medium build. The other was in his mid-30s, about six feet tall, and very dark skinned.

Det. Insp. Carlton Adams, who is in charge of the investigation, was anxious to talk to a customer believed to be in the store just before the robbery occurred.

The elderly black Bermudian, who had grey hair, purchased a Mid-Ocean News , the Bermuda Sun, a roll of tin foil, and a packet of Alka-seltzer, Police said.

A 38-year-old woman was attacked by a man on Gorham Road early Saturday morning, Police said.

The woman was walking near Bermudiana Road just after midnight when a man grabbed her by the neck and head and assaulted her, Police said.

The man, who was described as dark-skinned, about six feet tall, of medium build, and wearing light-coloured trousers, reportedly dragged her to the ground and punched her in the face.

She screamed, but the man placed his hand over her mouth before he eventually ran away.

The woman suffered a cut lip and swollen jaw.
