But they saw no signs of the 62-year-old Smith's Parish resident.

Officers managed to cover the waters between Spittal Pond and Pink Beach, and between Cooper Island and Hungry Bay.

The search began last Thursday when Mr. DeSilva's beige Nissan station wagon was found abandoned at about 3.30 a.m. at Watch Hill Park in Smith's Parish.

The park and shoreline was combed, while Police divers took to the waters.

Police are expected to continue searching for Mr. DeSilva at daylight today.

A source has told The Royal Gazette that Mr. DeSilva had been distraught for some time over his wife, who is in hospital in a coma.

The person said her condition may have thrown Mr. DeSilva into a deep depression.
