Traffic signal settings at Spurling Hill have been changed in a temporary remedial measure which should become permanent.

A Government spokesman said: "Commuters to and from Hamilton may have noticed, over the last week, an improvement in the flow of traffic into and out of Hamilton.

"The cooperative effort between the Department of Planning and the Corporation of Hamilton, acting on the advice of consultants Symonds Cravers Morgan, has enabled us to take early action to test changes in signal settings at Spurling Hill.

Of the 12,991 postcard questionnaires distributed during the traffic survey, 4,168 were completed and returned to the Planning Department.
