The girl assaulted 17-year-old Renee Barbara Joycelyn Kelly of Hamilton Parish while she was sitting with her 24-year-old boyfriend on the concrete benches in front of the City Hall car park.

Kelly said that on Wednesday July 14 at around 10.30 p.m. she was "jumped from out of nowhere'' by the girl who approached the couple from the direction of City Hall.

The girl grabbed Kelly's head and bit her left ear tearing the lobe. Kelly's mother later recovered the ripped off skin in the area of the attack.

At the conclusion of the girl's Juvenile Court hearing her lawyer Mr. Wilhelm Bourne told Magistrate the Wor. Charles-Etta Simmons that the girl had undergone many difficult situations in her life.

"The death of her mother resulted in the lack of social grounding and moulding. It caused her to react in ways that were not acceptable,'' Mr.

Bourne said.

"A number of situations and rumours made about herself and a family member led to the point of her striking out.'' Mr. Bourne added that: "We are human beings and we react to certain situations.'' In response Ms Simmons said the girl had to learn to deal with aggravation.

"The girl you assaulted will suffer from physical damage for the rest of her life,'' Ms Simmons said.

"Nothing you do can replace what you've done to her. You need to learn how to interact with people appropriately.'' When asked if she had anything to say, the accused: "It wouldn't have happened if I wasn't treated the way I was.'' Ms Simmons ordered that the girl be committed to Family Services where she will be placed in an approved society.
