The money came from the school's annual raffle, the Undersea Odyssey fundraiser and this year's Hallowe'en fair.

And the Saltus Association gave $12,000 to Saltus-Cavendish Preparatory School to purchase a new piano for the school hall and more equipment for the playground.

An additional grant of $19,000 will be used to improve the general appearance of its buildings and grounds.

Meanwhile the Junior School will use a $12,000 award to upgrade the CD-ROM capability of four of its computers as well as to add a scanner to the school's computer room.

The Senior School was granted $12,000 to support a number of academic disciplines. New purchases will include two cameras for the Art department, a weather station for the Geography department and two overhead projectors for the Mathematics department.

A further $21,000 is earmarked for Staff Development.
