Youths master art of summer fun
The summer camp is entitled "Art on the Gogh'' and is directed by Roberta Mosher.
Mrs. Mosher is taking her students on an art filled summer of fun. For these budding young artists the summer will consist of tours to some of Bermuda's most prominent art museums.
They will also receive some tips from Bermudian artists such as Bruce Stuart, Joanne Flath, Joan Aspinall, and the daughter of Carole Holding, Caroline Tee.
Even though the youngsters cannot wait to learn from these great artists, they have already begun their own art work.
They have made environmental boxes using shoe boxes and dead leaves, and other flora and fauna.
Head counsellor Rinear Thatcher says she will be taking the students to the home of some of her artist friends so the students can paint in the backyard, then enjoy an afternoon of swimming.
Student Madonna Smith is enjoying her third year at the summer camp. She says she returns each year to enhance her art work further.
"It is a wonderful experience to go around the Island learning about art,'' says first-time student Ellise Rodriguez.
Mrs. Mosher says the camp has no more spaces left for this year, but she will start taking applications for next year.
