Yesterday Eastmond, 47, of Devon Lane, Devonshire, was fined $200 for assault.

Sgt. Kenrick James, prosecuting, told Magistrates' Court the incident occurred at Eastmond's home on January 17.

The nephew and his mother appeared at the property at 1.25 p.m., said Sgt.

James Eastmond blew his top, and shouted: "You brought this stupid woman instead of my daughter.'' He then punched his nephew on the left cheek, later grabbing his throat.

"The complainant left the house with his mother who witnessed both attacks,'' said Sgt. James.

"He suffered swelling to the left side of his face and neck, but no medical treatment was needed.'' Sgt. James added: "It was something of a family squabble.'' Jobless Eastmond, who admitted assault, apologised to Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis, but said he had been provoked.

Mr. Francis said his sentence accounted for Eastmond's record of violence.
