Trott cheered by draw

the Martonmere Cup final, Dandy Town coach Mark Trott was given another reason to be cheerful when the draw was made yesterday for the Third Round of the FA Cup.

Like defending champions Vasco, Dandy Town came out of the bag against lower league opposition, teams the pair, at least on paper, should defeat without too much of a sweat.

Town will take on St George's Allstars, the winners of last night's all ComAmercial League replay against Ireland Rangers and St George's Allstars, while Vasco will meet Second Division BAA in the December 6 matches.

However, Trott -- the only coach at the Bermuda Football Association offices when the draw was made -- was not taking anything for granted.

"It's pretty interesting,'' he said of the draw. "For us it's probably a good draw, but we are not going to be taking anybody lightly.'' Town will be away to their Commercial League opponents at a venue and time yet to be named while Vasco will host BAA at BAA at 2.30p.m.

Dandy Town's momentum is high after Wednesday's win -- but Trott remains cautious.

"As a team we have indeed set goals to win certain things but I would think that the FA Cup is just another trophy along the way and if it presents us with the opportunity to win it then I am sure we will be try our best to win it,'' said Trott, speaking before last night's replay.

"It's a good draw, I can't complain about it. Since I have been coaching we have always played a First or Second Division team in the FA Cup. But about 90 percent of our pre-season matches were against Commercial League sides: Ireland Rangers were one and I thought they were pretty decent side.

"Players may view it as being an easy game but you can bet your bottom dollar that we are going to prepare that week as though we are playing one of the top sides in the Island.''
