Twenty three year-old Colton Christopher Smith also received a two-year driving ban after a chase that saw his car reach speeds of 130 kph.

Magistrates' Court heard that on October 3, a Police officer on patrol along South Road in Southampton recognised Smith and realised the car he was driving was not licensed. Smith was signalled to pull over, but he sped off instead.

The Crown Hill resident managed to manoeuvre his vehicle around two Police road blocks in Paget before crashing into a third at the junction of Tee Street and South Road in Devonshire.

The chase covered 8.8 kilometres of road.

Smith's car was extensively damaged in the collision, but remarkably, neither he nor his passengers were seriously injured. His 18-year-old girlfriend was also in the car.
