US con artists are calling credit card holders in Bermuda in the hope of using their card numbers to get money or purchase goods, Police spokesman Sgt. John Dale said.

"They purport to be representatives of either Visa or Master Card and would tell the person over the phone something like, their computer has gone down and would ask for their credit card number.'' Police believe no-one in Bermuda has fallen for the scheme so far, but Sgt.

Dale said credit card holders should be aware of such callers and not give any information to persons who are not bona fide or authorised.
