30-year-old man, goes on trial today.

Gregory Talbot, of Talbot Lane, faces the charge of causing the death of Wayne Conroy "Bum Bum'' Swan last summer by reckless driving of a powerboat.

He has also been charged with causing injury to Anthony Johnson, operating a powerboat in a dangerous manner and operating the boat without due care and attention.

Talbot was driving the 17-foot launch Ocean Arrow when it struck Lambda Island in the Great Sound on September 1, 1992.

Swan was asleep in the back of the boat when the accident occurred and was killed instantly while Johnson required surgery for serious head injuries.

Four other men were in the boat at the time of the incident.
