L.E. (Buster) Gibbons took to the greens with his sons, Smith's North MP Leonard Gibbons and Dr. Robert Gibbons, on the golf course he himself opened "after the War, and after all the Americans left'' decades ago.

Mr. Gibbons said he still visits the hotel often, but admitted he had not played golf since 1968.

And during his 47 years of service with the hotel he did every possible job available.

"You name it, I did it,'' said Mr. Gibbons.

He also said recent managers of the luxury resort "deserved a lot of credit'' for the many developments to the hotel.
