yesterday's final race of the North American Star Class Championships on Lake George in New York.

Yesterday's final result wasn't available at press time, but Bromby and White had already won two of the races in the five-race series (the second and third) and placed third and fifth in their other races entering the last day.

They were tied for second with John MacCausland and Phil Trinter on 10 points and trailing Olympic gold medallist Mark Reynolds and Magnus Lilijedahl who had two wins and two seconds for six points.

Even with one race to be dropped, fourth-placed Peter Vessella and Tom Dendy had little chance of catching the top three as they had accumulated 34 points with two fourths, an eighth and an 18th.

Some 49 crews were competing in the annual regatta which began last Saturday.

Bromby and White split up after a disappointing Olympics in Savannah, Georgia in 1996 but got back together earlier this year.
