White Mountains Insurance Group is to repurchase 282,341 of its shares for $500 per share in a transaction with an institutional investor, the company has said.

This transaction is the first repurchase under the previously announced share repurchase plan authorised by White Mountains' board of directors on November 17. There are 717,659 shares remaining for future share repurchases under the plan.
