A portable security hut has been installed at the Premier's private home.

The hut, along with other security measures, were put in place after the Premier chose to stay at his residence instead of moving to Clifton, which was meant to be the official residence of the leader of the Government.

In a written response to parliamentary questions Minister of Works and Engineering, Dennis Lister said in May that security for the Premier's private residence was expected to cost $82,975.

The response added that the money would cover: "Installation of railings and guard rails along portions of the West and East boundary walls where indicated by the Bermuda Police Service.

"Provision of a security monitoring and alarm system. Locating of portable security hut and associated facilities for use by the police security detail. And any necessary civil works associated with the above."

At the time the Press Secretary Glenn Jones said: "$82,000 for the security enhancements at the Premier's house is an estimate. It could be more or it could be less.

"These security enhancements were called for by the Bermuda Police Service and the Premier has said if the Government wishes to remove them after he's no longer Premier, they will not be met by any resistance."
