Island soccer ranking falls
Bermuda's national football team is ranked 135th in the world, according to the latest rankings released by the sport's governing body FIFA yesterday.
That marks a fall of five places over the last month and continues a steady decline throughout 2007 during a dearth of international activity.
The Island had climbed to a ranking of 107th in the world by the end of last year, following participation in the Caribbean regional competition, the Digicel Cup.
Bermuda's highest ranking was in January 1993, when they reached 58th following their most successful run in regional World Cup qualifying competition.
Italy moved up two places to reclaim number one spot, with Argentina second and Brazil third. Germany moved up one spot to fourth and the Netherlands gained two places to fifth.
