Veteran policemen promoted
The man in charge of Operation Safer Streets recently received a promotion.
Bermudian Nick Pedro is now a Chief Inspector and has been given the responsibility of Officer in Charge of the Operation Safer Streets. It was launched as a direct response to the violence that unfolded in the early hours of Christmas Day.
Chief Insp. Pedro joined the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) in 1993 after obtaining a Bachelor's in Political Science. During his time in the BPS he has worked Narcotics Department and Criminal Investigation Department.
Recently he was in charge of the Fraud Unit in the Commercial Crime Department.
He has also received three Commissioner's Commendations for excellent work.
Another veteran of the BPS was promoted this week.
Insp. Mark Clarke joined the Service in December 1981 as a Police Cadet. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2001.
Insp. Clarke has worked in the Uniform Division, Criminal Investigations Departments, Major Incident Room, Juvenile Domestic Crime Unit and currently serves as the Incident Commander in the Operational Support Unit.
He has received 4 Commendations, eight Notes of Appreciation, seven Letters of Good Work, 3 Commissioner's Merit Awards, a Colonial Police Long Service Award and a Queen's Jubilee Medal 2000.
