Corporate efforts create playground in Pembroke
Two of Bermuda's leading firms are trying to become better corporate citizens.
Hamilton employees of Marsh and Guy Carpenter and Company worked with Keep Bermuda Beautiful (KBB) and built a new playground at Pembroke Community Centre.
Marsh and Guy Carpenter employees built the playground with the help of Department of Parks on April 10 and 11 and it was unveiled by Minister of the Environment and Sports Elvin James yesterday.
Mr. James said: "It is fantastic to see Marsh and Guy Carpenter taking proactive steps to improve the local community and the environment here in Bermuda and we are delighted that they have donated the new playground. I'm sure it will be well received by the children that use Pembroke Community Centre and it will be enjoyed for many years to come."
The Pembroke Community Centre is used by local establishments like Bermuda Tae Kwon Do Association, Bermuda Ball Hockey Association and L'Ecole After School Service who will now be able to use the new playground.
Rich Lathan, the executive director of Keep Bermuda Beautiful, said: "We would like to thank Marsh and Guy Carpenter for taking this initiative and donating the playground and their time to help improve the facilities at the Pembroke Community Centre and we encourage others to follow Marsh and Guy Carpenter's example by being a good corporate citizen."
The playground was supported by Bermuda Insurance Market and donated as part of an initiative to give back to the community.
