Dear Sir,
I, for one, was watching the Bermuda versus Guyana 20/20 match with an "expect the worse, hope for something a little better than the worse" philosophy.
What I saw was beyond embarrassing.
What did it cost the Bermuda Cricket Board and ultimately the Bermuda public (since the BCB is funded by the government) to send a team to play Guyana?
I understand that Stanford pick up some of the costs but they would certainly not have paid for the week prior to the match. And in return for spending all that money what did they get?
What lessons were learnt that have not been learnt before? Can you teach an old or senior dog any new tricks?
The lowest score in the tournament . . . AGAIN!
I agree that weaker teams have to play stronger opposition in order to improve but the 20/20 format is not the place.
There is an old saying used by many teachers . . . poor preparation can only lead to poor performance. How true.
Who is to blame? The BCB most definitely. The players for not being committed . . . certainly the government for not taking ownership of its investment.
What does this mean for Bermuda's cricketing future.
Maybe the BCB executives should put on pads and go out and play so that people can judge them on live television.
BEEN THERE . . . DONE THAT
