Bermuda’s first-ever Just for Laughs comedy festival is officially in the works.

The event is scheduled to take place from January 11 to 13 at the Fairmont Southampton resort.

The event is being held in association with the well known Just for Laughs festival of Montreal, which has been credited with spawning the careers of the likes of Jerry Seinfeld and others.

Just for Laughs Bermuda organiser Richard Simon told The Royal Gazette <$>that five international comics will take to the stage along with one Bermudian comic, Nadanja Bailey, during the upcoming comedy event.

“I can’t announce all the names yet,” he said. “But I can confirm that American Alonzo Bodden (pictured), winner of Last Comic Standing III, will be one of our comics.

“The show will be taped for future broadcast on XM Satellite Radio across the US.

“There will be four shows in the Mid Ocean Amphitheatre for the public and sponsors, and four intimate shows in the Wine Cellar Bar exclusively for sponsors.”
