Goater praises Crockwell
But the ex-Manchester City ace said Canada were able to outwit Bermuda despite the home side trying to put up the defensive shutters in their 3-0 defeat.
He said: “We played five in the midfield to make it difficult and their manager and players are aware of that and they kept moving the ball around knowing at some point a mistake or indecision will be exposed and that’s what happened.
“It was a decent crowd considering we had the cricket game on.
“In a game where we didn’t get much opportunity Shaki Crockwell kept going. That’s a good sign.
“He will play in games and earn his goals because he is an honest, hard-working player. That was something I was impressed with. He stood out for me.
“He was the one who was probably most disappointed in the game because as a striker you don’t want to come off and say I haven’t had a shot, I haven’t had an opportunity to even miss.
“I liked his endeavour to run around and get stuck in. That shows me he is someone who can improve and will improve. His hunger shows me that.”
