Bank issues warning

The Bank of Bermuda is warning its customers to be on their guard against fraudulent e-mails after their personal financial information.

In a statement, the bank said it was aware some of its customers had received the e-mails asking them to log on to a fradulent website and to disclose their details.

"Bank of Bermuda is aware that some of our customers have received a fraudulent email asking them to log on to a fraudulent web site and provide personal financial information.

"The public should note that phishing emails along with other fraudulent emails are constantly circulating. In this instance, the bank acted immediately and we are working with the appropriate security authorities in disabling the site. We would like to advise our customers that any requests received via email to validate personal information should be declined.

"Under no circumstances would Bank of Bermuda send emails requesting customers to confirm debit/credit card numbers, account numbers along with their personal log on information. Any clients who responded to the fraudulent email and provided personal information should immediately contact the bank's call centre at 299- 5959."
