Breaking News: New Assistant Commissioner of Police named

David Mirfield was today named Assistant Commissioner of Police, responsible for serious crime.He will take up his post after a swearing-in ceremony at Police Headquarters on Monday.The announcement was made by Labour, Home Affairs and Housing Minister David Burch at a press conference this afternoon.

Mr. Mirfield retired in April as a Chief Superintendent from the West Midlands Police having served with them for 35 years

His Bermuda appointment is to span a two-year period. He will be tasked with establishing best practices in serious crime investigations, particularly in the areas of gang suppression and violence reduction.
