Former United Bermuda Party Leader Wayne Furbert is tomorrow set to join the Progressive Labour Party, according to sources in the PLP.

Mr. Furbert — an Independent MP since quitting the UBP in December 2008 citing frustration at its failure to reform — is expected to complete his journey across the floor with a mixed reaction from Government MPs.

His move has long been considered likely, with the Hamilton West MP, a frequent face at PLP meetings, stating he had no intention to run as an Independent at the next General Election.

This newspaper understands PLP caucus members have been E-mailed about the prospect of Mr. Furbert joining the party; some have welcomed the prospect but others raised concern about his UBP past.
