Breaking News: Man found guilty of death by dangerous driving

A 25-year-old Sandys man was found guilty this afternoon of causing the death of a 22-year-old by dangerous driving.

Mendall Outerbridge, appeared to show now emotion as the six man, six woman Supreme Court jury read out the majority guilty verdict.

The jury heard that on September 6, 2008, Outerbridge ran over Raymond Curtis, who the prosecution admitted was already lying in the middle of Malabar Road, Sandys.

Outerbridge, who was returning from a night out drinking in Somerset and Hamilton, admitted to the court that he had no valid driver's licence, vehicle licence or insurance at the time.

He also admitted he collided with Mr. Curtis between 3.38 am and 3.53 am and failing to report it, but always denied the more serious charge of causing his death.

In Supreme Court today, Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves ordered a social inquiry report and for Outerbridge to return for arraignments on March 1 for sentencing.
