Breaking News: Police hunt armed robbers
An armed robber struck a man in the face with his gun after breaking into his home in the early hours of yesterday.
Police say three men entered the property in Green Acres Road, Devonshire, and demanded cash, at about 12.05 a.m.
It was one of a string of gun-related reports from over the weekend, although Police — who maintained high visible patrols throughout the Island — say several reports of gunshot fire all appear to be false alarms.
Three men and two women were in the home at the time of the break-in, with one of the men receiving a small cut and swelling to his face after being hit with the firearm. The offenders ran off with cash.
Meanwhile, residents reported gunshot being fired in Friswells Road, Devonshire, at about 6.45 p.m. on Friday; the Reid Street/Burnaby Street area in Pembroke at about 1.20 a.m. Saturday; and the Glebe Road/St. Monica’s Road area in Pembroke at about 12.15 a.m. yesterday.
Loud noises were also heard in the Serpentine Road/Trelawney Lane area of Pembroke around 8 p.m. on Friday.
Armed officers attended all of these incidents; however on arrival found nothing to substantiate the gunshot reports.
