Four hundred and seventy-five middle school level three students will research, compose and present their own business plan during a course that will begin this September.

Bermuda's middle schools will join with schools throughout the United States in exposing its students to business through entrepreneurship.

The Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative of Bermuda (YEIB), in partnership with the Education and Telecommunication Ministries, will introduce the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) programme into the senior level curriculum to teach students the principles of entrepreneurship and e-business.

The NFTE programme will use Internet based training, textbooks and workbooks to help students understand the new business studies programme.

This programme is "designed to develop the overall academic skills that accompany the students' interest in entrepreneurship by training teachers, providing curriculum, and offering site-based technical assistance".

Middle school teachers participating in NFTE training will undergo a two-day seminar and a one-week internship as an assistant teacher during the NFTE BizCamp.

Five teachers will receive certificates from the YEIB this afternoon and it is anticipated that 60 students between the ages of 14 and 18 will participate in the weeklong BizCamps to be held this August.
