Trio attend BCB hearing
The disciplinary hearing involving three players reported to Bermuda Cricket Board by umpire Richard (Red) Burrows took place last night ? though when the outcome will be made public has not been established.
Somerset captain Reid Jones was charged with assaulting Burrows after the Knockout Cup game between Bailey?s Bay and Somerset on August 27 at Sea Breeze Oval while Bay player-coach Noel Gibbons and Somerset seamer David Gibbs stood accused of repeated verbal abuse towards the umpire.
Jones? alleged action is deemed a Level Four offence under the Code of Conduct, which carries with it a ban of between ten games and life.
Both sides were unhappy with some of the decisions made by Burrows in the closely-fought first round game ultimately won by Bay ? none more so than Gibbs, who reportedly smashed the stumps out of the ground with his bat after being given out caught behind.
It is understood, however, that the latter incident was not included in the umpire?s report.
