Sea Breeze Oval may have been unkind to Flatts on Saturday when they mustered just over 100 runs before losing to St. David's in the Eastern Counties Cup tie.

However, they found the same pitch more to their liking yesterday when they scored a surprise one-wicket victory over St. George's in a Premier Division clash.

Chasing after a winning target of 240, Flatts got solid batting from allrounder Derek Wright and veteran Troy Bean to help steer them to victory, Wright finishing undefeated on 62, while Bean struck 50. Wright stroked three sixes and five fours while Bean had seven fours.

Flatts were wobbling at 31 for three, for Bean then Wright to hit them out of trouble and take them to victory with just seven balls remaining.

Also among the runs were opener Gary Warren with 25, Quinn Outerbridge 14 not out and opener James Celestine 12.

Gregg Foggo was the pick of the St. George's bowlers with four for 31 off ten overs and one maiden, while Herbie Bascome took three for 26 off nine overs with one maiden. Skipper Charlie Marshall snatched two for 41 off 8.5 overs.

Earlier, St. George's reached what seemed to be a winning total of 239 with opener Mark Ray hitting 89 and Gregg Foggo 54. Ray's knock off 95 balls produced two sixes and nine fours while Foggo had one six and six fours.

Wright was the chief wicket taker for Flatts with four for 40 off ten overs while Celestine had two for 30 off ten overs.

Cleveland 137,

St. David's 130-9

This low scoring game produced a shock result with underdogs Cleveland scoring a seven-run victory at Wellington Oval.

Heavily favoured St. David's lost opener Glenn Blakeney for a duck and their slow recovery from 27 for three saw them run out of overs at the end. No other information was available last night.
