Fitness test for Steede's knee
Ryan Steede will undergo a fitness test this morning at the Toronto Cricket Club.
The towering Bailey?s Bay medium pacer seized four wickets for 127 runs off 24 overs, including two maidens in the defeat to Canada.
He also contributed 13 and 12 runs with the bat in each of Bermuda?s innings, but hobbled off the pitch late on the final day?s play after re-aggravating an old knee injury sustained in a cycle accident several years ago.
?Ryan had the morning off to relax and stuff like that and we will have another look at him late this afternoon (yesterday). And we can?t really fully assess him until he actually does some bowling,? Bermuda team physio Craig Brown explained.
This summer?s playing stint at UK side Atherstone CC seems to be paying dividends as Steede appears to have picked up a bit more pace, and a more serious approach to his overall game.
?Steede?s injury looks to be more of a case of inflammation in the knee, although at the end of the game it was very difficult to completely diagnose it,? Brown continued.
?It looks more of a kneecap problem which should settle down quite nicely. However, we won?t have a full indication of everything until we ask him to bowl again.?
As to the health status of the remainder of the squad, Brown said: ?There?s nobody else on an injury note that has a doubt hanging over them for selection.?
Meanwhile, Kwame Tucker arrived in Toronto late Tuesday afternoon and is also scheduled to undergo a strenuous physical test during this morning?s practice session.
Tucker pulled a hamstring at the Stanford 20/20 Tournament in Antigua in late July, an injury that forced him out of Cup Match this year.
?Kwame is going to be put through some wicketkeeping drills to see how he looks because we need two wicketkeepers in the squad,? Brown explained.
?His running between the wicket and outfield is not being questioned. It?s just the slightly different movement patterns wicketkeepers tend to do that we want to make sure is okay.?
