Still waiting for a chance to play . . .

It was a monster win for us against Sheffield United on Saturday. They are not a team I could ever be a fan of. They play a very aggressive, physical style of football and everything they do seems to be a cross.

It was a monster win for us against Sheffield United on Saturday.

They are not a team I could ever be a fan of. They play a very aggressive, physical style of football and everything they do seems to be a cross.

They have a guy who can throw the ball a huge distance, he can hit the far post with a throw from anywhere near the box, so every time they got a throw in our half they chucked it long and tried to get a flick-on.

But it is a style that suits them well and I am sure they are going to do well this season, which makes winning there a big deal for us ? but you certainly wouldn?t want to go there in January.

I was on the bench again on Saturday, but I expected to be after strong performances for the first two games of the season by the manager?s first choice pair.

It is just a matter of biding my time and waiting for my chance. You just have to be supportive in training and on match days and wait for your chance.

In England it is a very long season and I know my time will come ? it is just a matter of being patient and making sure I take advantage of my opportunity when it comes.

It is always strange being on the bench. Different players adapt to it in different ways. I like to try and watch as much of the game as possible.

I keep focused and look at how I could contribute to the game if I come on. Although in Bermuda, if you are on the bench you might not warm-up until just before you come on, in the professional game it is a bit different.

I try and warm-up two or three times in the first half and then three or four times in the second half, you have to make sure you are ready for when the manager gives you the nod.

We are playing Rotherham, my old club, on Saturday and it will be a tough game. They are a physical side, although not as physical as Sheffield, but they can also play a bit ? so they can be quite dangerous.

But they are not a side who waste much time with sideways passes, it is just a case of hoofing it up to the frontmen, they knock it down to a midfielder and then the ball goes over the top for them to chase.

There is only really Paul Hurst left over from my days there but it be would great to play in that one ? it always is against your old clubs.

When you see an old team coming up in the fixtures, it always makes you reflect a bit on your time there and what has happened since.

I look back with fond memories of my time there. I learnt a lot about the English game during my spell with them, as I have done at every club I have been with.

It was very different from Manchester United when I played alongside some fantastic players but you were just expected to be up there and know what to do.

At Rotherham, it was a lower division team, and there was more time to develop my style of play and understand more why I needed to make certain runs or lay off certain passes.

I definitely have no regrets about my career and if I get on the pitch against them, there will be no thoughts of anything like that. You can?t dwell on things when you have to focus for a match.

Hopefully this Saturday I will get my chance to show what I can do and that I am still a striker who can score goals.
