Cowen smashes three more records
Swimmer Ronald Cowen smashed three national records in the Harbour Open Championships at the weekend.
Dolphins swimmer Cowen won both the 100m and 200m backstroke and the 100m individual medley, all in record times.
He clocked 59.55 seconds in the 100m backstroke and two minutes, 7.29 seconds in the 200m backstroke.
Cowen's time of 1:00.31 seconds for the 100m IM was not only a national record, but a Bermuda allcomers' record, bettering the previous mark of 1:00.91 set by Craig Dies in 1984.
Graham Smith, Cowen's team-mate at last month's World Swimming Championships in Japan, also broke the previous Bermuda 100m IM record, clocking 1:02.07, and established a new 15-18 age group best.
Cowen also found time to win the Trunk Island Swim on Sunday, a long-established race from Trunk Island to Palmetto Dock, also in a new record time.
