Douglas makes second semi

Sprinter Troy Douglas has progressed to his second semi-final of the week at the European Athletics Championships in Munich, Germany.

Having made it through to the 100m semis on Tuesday where he narrowly missed out on a place in the final, the Bermuda-born runner, who now represents the Netherlands, surged through his opening two heats in the 200 metres yesterday.

Douglas, who at 39 is believed to be the oldest sprinter at the championships, placed third in the second heat of the second round, clocking 20.78 seconds and edging former European champion Geir Moen of Norway into fourth place (20.85).

The heat was won by Konstadinos Kederis of Greece in 20.29 followed by Britain's Marlon Devonish in 20.41.

The top four from each of the three second round heats advanced to today's semi-finals.

Earlier in the day Douglas had been the ninth fastest qualifier of the first round heats with a time of 20.81.
