Machete attacker lops off top of man?s finger

A machete-wielding attacker chopped off part of a man?s finger in in a frenzied attack in Pembroke. The 34-year-old victim, from Pembroke, was on Rambling Lane standing next to his girlfriend?s car at 4.15 p.m. on Thursday when a man began acting in an erratic manner.

The victim asked the man to calm down and the man walked away, only to return a short time later armed with a machete.

The suspect swung the machete at the Pembroke man a few times before the victim managed to escape.

He was treated at the hospital for injuries ? the top of the middle finger of his left hand was severed and he suffered lacerations to his right hand.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned, slim, approximately 5 feet 7 inches, with a close haircut. He was clean shaven and is believed to be in his 20s.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to call 295-0011.
