On a quiet day of trading, the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index rose by half a percent when Bank of Butterfield stock rose in price.

The bank's stock rose by 65 cents to $30.25 or 2.2 percent. The only other stock to trade was Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd., which traded 31 shares and closed unchanged at $9.

The index closed up 14.64 points at 2,685.7 on a volume of 2,281 shares worth $68,304. No bonds traded.
