The remnants of Tropical Storm Kate, downgraded yesterday to a tropical depression, remained on course last night to track northward and far from Bermuda.

The Bermuda Weather Service last night had the system heading 661 miles east of the island at 10pm tomorrow – although Kate could move closer as forecasts change.

Kate had sustained winds of 34mph, gusting to 45mph, and was moving north-northeast at 9mph.

At 6am, it lay 911 miles east-southeast of the island.

Meanwhile, the National Hurricane Centre in the US has named Tropical Storm Larry in the eastern Atlantic.

Larry could become a hurricane by Friday as it moves west and then west-northwest across the Atlantic. It is expected to pack winds of more than 110mph by Saturday.
