Concession stand approved

A waterfront fish fry concession is to open at the eastern edge of the Government House waterfront on North Shore.

The brainchild of Bertram Fraser, the small mobile concession will offer food and feature removable tables and chairs.

The move is part of a Ministry of Public Works drive to boost the area.

Craig Burt of the Parks Department said: “Mr Fraser is passionate about trying to improve his neighbourhood and provide positive outlets and experiences for the community and visitors alike.”

He added that Mr Fraser was aware of guidelines governing the use of Government-run park areas.

Mr Burt added that other foods might be available and other vendors, including people from North Village, providing arts and craft items for sale. Mr Fraser has also raised the possibility of North Village FC members working with his concession to raise funds for the club.

The area where the concession will stand has been graded and steps taken to prevent erosion. And the boundary wall on the water’s edge patio and steps are to be improved as well, while the Ducking Stool area is also in line for an upgrade.
