Sailors hit the water
Bermuda's sailors will take to the seas today despite it scheduled as a rest day due to insufficient wind and poor visibility plaguing the Pan-Am contest.
It was a mixed bag of results for the Island's sailors yesterday with perennial Pan-Am favourite Malcolm Smith continuing his run of poor form.
The former world champion came in a disappointing 7th to leave him in fifth place overall in the sunfish.
But Katrina Williams continued her impressive performances in the laser radial finishing sixth, leaving her tied for second place.
While Stevie Dickinson and Leatrice Roman came in 7th despite making an excellent start in the snipe, putting them in 7th place overall. Finally, veteran Brett Wright finished 11th place for the second successive race in the laser.
Team manager Deb Gravelle said although Bermuda had not made a flying start she stressed the competition was still in its infancy.
"At this point we were supposed to have completed six races yet we have done just three," she said.
"There's a long way to go before Saturday's medal round. We will be racing today due to the weather affecting the races so far.
"It's fair to say Malcolm hasn't made the best start but we're delighted with Katrina's form."
