Mark Diel is the new managing director at law firm Marshall Diel & Myers Limited.

He will be assisted in the leadership role by colleague Adam Richards, while former managing director Kevin Taylor is returning to litigation practice within the litigation and advice group.

Mr Taylor led the Firm for two years, and he will remain a director.

The changes come into effect today. In a statement, the directors of Marshall Diel & Myers, said: “Since Kevin announced his desire to step down as managing director in order to return to the full time practice of law, we analysed what was necessary to continue to advance the Firm and it was determined that a multiparty management structure would best serve the interest of the Firm moving forward.

“The appointment of both Mark and Adam was enthusiastically approved by the directors as it will allow the management responsibilities to be shared while both continue their roles as busy practitioners.”

Mr Diel started his practice in Bermuda in 1987, gaining experience in criminal, civil, constitutional and administrative litigation.

In 1998, he and fellow director Ronald Myers formed the Diel & Myers law partnership. Four years later Marshall and Aicardi joined with Diel & Myers to become Marshall Diel & Myers.

In a statement the Firm, which has its office on Reid Street, said: “Mark’s clients appreciate his focused approach that keeps an eye on the realities of commercial litigation, and is highly regarded by clients for his thoroughness, litigation savvy and practical advice. He will bring these strengths to this leadership role in the Firm.”

Mr Richards specialised in family law in his early career and worked as a barrister at Temple Chambers in the UK before joining Marshall Diel & Myers in 2009, where he has worked exclusively with the matrimonial and family team. He was appointed a director in 2012 and has been active in the development and supervision of the Firm’s student programmes.

“In his practice, Adam seeks to be empathetic to a client’s circumstances whilst providing straightforward advice and practical solutions to achieve the best outcome for each individual,” the Firm said in a statement.

Stepping down as managing director, Mr Taylor said: “With this dynamic and experienced team, the Firm is well positioned to continue to grow and prosper.

“Mark and Adam are each respected lawyers and acknowledged leaders in the legal community who are more than able to take on the role of leading the Firm”.

Mr Diel thanked Mr Taylor for his two years at the helm, and said: “Under Kevin’s leadership our Firm has increased in size, scope and expertise all through difficult economic times.

“We are extremely grateful to him and we respect his desire to return to the full time practice of law while also continuing to provide valuable leadership and assistance to both our clients and our colleagues”.
