It originally operated out of the Queen Elizabeth Nurses Residence. The clinic moved to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in 1998. It provides medical services and supplies to clients who are assessed and declared unable to pay for such services. The Bermuda Hospitals Board credit office assesses clients to determine their ability to pay for health insurance. According to Government figures between 1,300 and 1,500 clients use the facility with 2,273 visits to the clinic last year. In 2005 the clinic increased the hours of operation and physician coverage, as well as time for clinic patients who were admitted to the hospital as inpatients. There are currently two part-time physicians, two full-time nurses, one full-time porter and one full-time unit assistant. In 2006/07 fiscal year, the Bermuda Hospital Board received $2,521,522 from the Ministry of Finance to fund the operation of the Medical Clinic and the HIV Clinic. Half is spent on HIV medications, which are free to patients. Patients are also provided with supplies, diabetic materials, incontinent care needs, diagnostic testing, pharmacy and physiotherapy services.
