Police arrested two people on suspicion of drink-driving over the weekend. A male motorcyclist was detained on South Road, Paget, at 1.20 a.m on Friday and taken to Hamilton Police station after failing a breath test.
Around 1.40 a.m on Saturday, another male motorcyclist was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving on Middle Road in Smith’s. He passed a breath test at the Police station and was subsequently released.
The arrests came after motorists were reminded on Friday of the costs of drink-driving through 16 smashed-up cars left by the side of roads across the Island by campaigners. Friday was also No Alcohol Day , part of Alcohol Awareness Month.
