An asthma charity will host an education seminar tomorrow to raise awareness of the condition.

Open Airways has assembled a team of nurses, physiotherapists and pharmacists who will provide information and advice to sufferers on World Asthma Day.

The session will take place at City Hall in Hamilton between 11.30am and 2pm.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: “World Asthma Day is an annual event celebrated globally to improve asthma awareness and care throughout the world.

“Bermuda joins more than 80 countries around the world to mark this day, each country celebrating in a different way.

“In Bermuda, it is estimated that more than 8,000 people have asthma, including one in seven children and one in ten adults.

“There will be an opportunity to sign up to schedule a free, hour-long consultation either in your home or in our office in town.

“At the consultation, you will receive individualised education, along with an informative booklet and a voucher for a new pillow.

“The event will be vibrant and fun as we are joined by local school bands and choirs, as well as jumpers from the Jump Federation of Bermuda. There will be chairs and tents and bubbles and banners.

“Join us and enjoy both the entertainment and the fresh air.”
