The former owner of Savvy Entertainment, who still owes the majority of an $800,000 taxpayer-funded loan for which he is subject to extradition efforts, is promoting a memoir and documentary about his life.

Anthony Blakey released the book Invictus: Dark Faith, billed as a “journey of resilience, faith and redemption”, last month and is also working on a related documentary.

Promotional material for the memoir, which carries the author name William A Blakey, describes Mr Blakey as “a successful entrepreneur who led transformative projects, a mentor who inspired the next generation and a community advocate committed to leaving a positive impact wherever he goes”.

Savvy Entertainment was founded by Mr Blakey, an American music promoter, who convinced the Bermuda Government to lend $800,000 to the company in April 2018 to set up a recording studio in Dockyard.

The studio never materialised and the majority of the loan was never paid back.

This led to Mr Blakey being charged, in absentia, with obtaining a money transfer by deception in Magistrates’ Court in October 2022.

However, seven years after the funds were lent to him, a trial date has not been set.

Savvy Entertainment was wound up by court order in February 2023.

Cindy Clarke, the Director of Public Prosecutions, confirmed this week that there was no news on efforts to extradite Mr Blakey to the island to stand trial.

According to EIN Newswire, Mr Blakey is collaborating with a “renowned production company” on an upcoming documentary.

The news agency, based in Washington, reported: “The documentary will delve deeper into the themes explored in Invictus: Dark Faith, offering viewers an intimate look at Blakey’s life, his struggles, and the lessons he’s learnt from both his failures and triumphs.”
