Lamont Marshall earned another trip to the podium with an impressive display in the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta yesterday.

The Bermudian completed the 10K in 32min 23sec to secure the men’s masters title and finished 37th among a field of 43,560 runners.

Kenyans Patrick Kiprop (27:35) and Hellen Obiri (31:29) captured the men’s and women’s elite titles respectively.

Meanwhile, a new men’s champion will be crowned in the Powerade 5K tomorrow as Sean Trott is not back to defend his title.

The Bermuda Half Marathon Derby champion has been ruled out due to international commitments with Bermuda at this month’s Island Games in Orkney, Scotland.

“I will not be actually defending the title this year due to the fact I am flying out later in the week to represent Bermuda in the Island Games. Just to keep the legs fresh I am going to sit this one out,” Trott told The Royal Gazette.

Back to defend their women’s crown is promising runner Naomi MacGuinness.

The multi-talented athlete has enjoyed a stellar year having claimed girls honours in the Heritage Day Junior Classic and Clarien Iron Kids Triathlon & Carnival, as well as blazing new records in the 800 and 1,500 metres in the BSSF Middle School Athletics Championships.
