Fairmont Southampton gears up career fair
As the island’s largest resort undergoes a $550 million transformation, the Fairmont Southampton is calling on Bermudians to join its future team with a meet and greet at the Bermuda Industrial Union hall.
The event invites hospitality newcomers, returning workers and alumni of the hotel to introduce themselves to the leadership team and learn about upcoming opportunities leading up to the grand reopening in spring 2026.
Organisers said attendees could submit an expression of interest now, ahead of a formal recruitment drive later this year. The event is on July 15, from noon to 7pm.
“This exclusive event offers a rare opportunity to … engage directly with members of the Fairmont Southampton leadership team and hear first-hand about the vision behind one of the island’s most anticipated reopenings,” the hotel said.
Donna Harvey-Maybury, director of talent and culture, added: “Seeing the excitement from the Bermudian community … reminds us why we continue to support this event year after year.”
The resort, which has been closed since 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, formally broke ground on the renovation in November 2024, with government and private-sector support that included a $75 million sovereign guarantee for the large hospitality project.
Interior demolition and beach club utility upgrades have been under way since January 2025, with about 50 local workers already on site and more to be recruited for the next construction phase.
Previously, the 593-room resort’s annual economic contribution was valued at more than $100 million and it represents about 25 per cent of Bermuda’s hotel inventory.
Those interested in the event should apply online via the resort’s colleague interest form.
