Registration opens for students interested in Portuguese
The Portuguese School of Bermuda has launched registration for its upcoming year with an “early bird” discount for those who sign up quickly.
The Portuguese Cultural Association of Bermuda, the charity running the programme, said it would also offer a discount to parents who register more than one child, and a referral rate to encourage more people to register.
A spokesman said: “The school is run as an after-school programme, holding classes for primary-school aged students across six grade levels.
“The Portuguese School delivers its classes in accordance with the Quadro de Referência para o Ensino Português no Estrangeiro, which is the official framework for teaching Portuguese as a foreign language, sponsored by Camões – Institute of co-operation and Language, IP.
“This is the institution dedicated to the worldwide promotion of the Portuguese language, Portuguese culture and international aid on behalf of the Government of Portugal.”
Classes are expected to start on 15 September and at the Portuguese School classroom on the ground floor of the Vasco da Gama Club.
Before August 8, parents can sign up their children for $275 with rates for siblings and students referred to the programme set at $200.
Between August 9 and September 19, registration costs will go up to $350 for a single child and $250 for siblings and referrals.
The costs for single students would will rise again on September 20, with the fees for “late” registration set at $400.
The spokesman added: “Our donors have also set aside some additional funding for a bursary programme for the parents of children who cannot afford instruction.
