Jehovah’s Witnesses to spread ‘end to war’ message
More than 400 volunteers in Bermuda are joining a global campaign to distribute a special issue of The Watchtower magazine, entitled “An end to war — how?”
The local effort is part of a worldwide initiative involving over 9 million volunteers. While Bermuda is not directly affected by large-scale conflicts, the community has not been immune to violence.
“We believe this magazine will bring hope to our island and to millions around the world,” said Luke Branco, a spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses. “So many of us have been touched by gun violence and death, and this publication offers a comforting message for anyone searching for peace in their life.”
The magazine explores the question: “Will we ever see a time when there is no more war?" One of its most compelling points is a solution rooted in a simple statement Jesus made in the well-known Lord's Prayer — a message that will particularly resonate with those who have grown weary of waiting for governments to bring about lasting change, Mr Branco added.
Throughout September, volunteers will also invite the public to a free, 30-minute special talk with the same theme.
“We invite everyone to attend,” Branco added. “For many, what they will hear will not only be comforting but also life-changing.”
