Bermuda women’s volleyball team head to Antigua
The Bermuda women’s volleyball team are heading to Antigua & Barbuda this week to compete in the 2025 Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Final Four.
The team earned their spot at the tournament after winning the silver medal at the ECVA Women’s Championship in October last year. The winner of the Final Four tournament will go on to compete in the 2026 North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Association’s Panamerican Cup in 2026.
A squad of ten players ― Amber Simons, Megan Hands, Sharri Weldon, Olivia Gazzard, Monique Cordeiro, Cailey Longworth, Kaylee Trott, Natalie Gazzard, Kayley Hamilton and Khianda Pearman-Watson ― has been selected by head coach Rick Bevis and assistant coach Lisa LeBlanc.
Bevis has been pleased with the attitude shown by his players in the preparation for this tournament.
“Athletes on Island have been training diligently and I am pleased with the progress that is being made technically and tactically,” he said.
“Our challenge will be to come together in Antigua and collectively play to our potential.”
The tournament takes place from Friday to Sunday, with Bermuda scheduled to play three matches, starting against St Lucia at 7pm Bermuda time on the opening day. They then play two matches on Saturday, facing off against the host nation at midday before playing Grenada at 8pm.
The medal matches are scheduled to take place on Sunday evening.
