Then there were four ... Ralph Scott narrows college options
NBA prospect Ralph Scott is down to a choice of four schools as he narrows his college options.
The 17-year-old, 6ft 7in forward has featured on Sports Illustrated’s website after reportedly cutting his college shortlist to four, with Purdue, Houston, Tennessee and Texas A&M the schools still in with a chance of securing his services.
He is ranked inside the top 50 of US high school prospects, with 247Sports listing Scott as 37th in the 2026 recruiting class, earning him a four-star rating.
Scott recently cancelled an official trip to Syracuse just days after visiting Purdue, with SI.com predicting that a decision could come sooner than expected.
“Purdue coach Matt Painter and his staff have moved quickly on Scott,” read the story on SI.com
“He received a scholarship offer from the programme on September 10 and took an official visit to West Lafayette on September 17.
Scott must have been impressed with what the Boilermakers had to offer, as the programme made his list of finalists, with an official visit to Syracuse on October 17 no longer on the docket. Could that mean a decision is coming sooner than expected?“
But it is not just Purdue who have rolled out the red carpet for Scott, who was also impressed with head coach Rick Barnes at Tennessee after visiting this month.
“I would say the coaching staff is great,” Scott told college website Rocky Top Insider.
“Coach Barnes and the history he has in the game, the players he’s coached and the legacy he has, is really nice.
“Impressions before the visit were that he seemed like a really serious coach, seeing him on TV and all that. Obviously, he has the legacy of coaching a great player like KD [Kevin Durant], TJ Ford, Marcus Alldridge, all those great players. But in person he’s really down-to-earth. I like his belief, too, and his faith is really nice.”
On his recent visit to Texas A&M, coach Bucky McMillan took Scott to Midnight Yell, a tradition that serves as a football pep rally held on the night before each home game, where the “12th Man”, Texas’s passionate fanbase, welcomed him with open arms.
Members of the Reed Rowdies, the official student section of Texas A&M Men’s Basketball, according to the group’s X profile, waved signs in support of Scott.
“Ralph will rock Reed Arena,” one of the signs read. “We want Ralph.”
SI.com is predicting that Scott will make his final decision known sometime in the next few weeks.
