Butterfield drives BSX’s 3.9% gain

The RG/BSX Index gained 111.93 points on Friday
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index climbed 111.93 points, or 3.9 per cent on Friday, driven by a rise in the share price of Butterfield Bank.
Butterfield gained $2 on the trading of 1,416 shares to close on $45 after the bank announced upbeat earnings this week.
The only other issuer to trade on Friday was Devonshire Industries Ltd, which closed unchanged on $6.50 as 42 of its shares changed hands.
The index closed on 2,979.51, up 6.74 per cent for the trading week.
Butterfield’s US-listed shares gained 91 cents, or 2.01 per cent, on the New York Stock Exchange to close on $46.26, on above-average trading volume of 373,609 shares.
